Sophie in Port Huron -Memorial Day Weekend

We had a busy one day. Yes, believe it or not Sophie and mom were only here for one day! Well, we toured the garden in the morning and went to breakfast. Breakfast, a pure delight? Not so much. Sophie wasn't into coloring or eating. Three minutes flat and she wanted to go. Friendly waitress produced a sticker tablet and that captured her attention for most of breakfast.

Then Sophie was off for a long walk along the water with her mom. Mom walked Sophie was in the stroller. The walk was so long Soph fell a sleep in her stroller for a wonderful nap outside.

After a lovely lunch we headed to the The Vantage Point. Sophie loved this. We all had donuts and beverages and Sophie explored the nautical themed building and views. Wonderful day for kite flying and sailing. Some of our lake views are included below. Sophie entertained the cafe patrons by leaning over the edge of the cement railing. Of course mom had a close eye and a tight rein on her. Joshy is such a good big brother he kept his eye on her at all times; like it was an automatic response.

Sophie is tending her forget- me- nots. We told her the little blue flowers were hers. She is so darned cute.

Sophie loved the flowers and spent many a minutes in the "flower garden"

Josh was so helpful; he watered the garden and yard and took ALL the trash and lawn bags to the curb. Believe me there were many, many lawn bags, at least a trillion ha ha.

What a beautiful day and fun! You know, one of those days where the sky and water are blue with a nice breeze and sunshine....not too cool or not too hot, but just right.

I love to watch Andy take pictures, she's so graceful in all her poses to capture just the right shot. These days with the family are very precious especially since Andy's the one with the camera (just kidding). It's on my list - a new camera. Photography is something I never persued for lack of interest. A blog or journal seems so much richer and memorable with photos. I'm investigating cameras now - maybe a Nikon D40

Some cute stories:
Ali, the cat, had cornered Sophie and was hisssing at her, well Sophie managed to walk around the cat and tried to pet her, Ali hissed all the more and ran away. Sophie was so concerned, she said to Ali, in this soft little voice, "its all right, its all right."
Sophie's been working on her numbers and she has learned she is going to be two. However, Sophie also is a bit of a rebel and when I asked he how old she was going to be she said, "ten", and continued to insist she was going to be ten.
Josh stayed an extra day and he was so much fun. He is such a guy but still gramma's baby even if he's going to be fifteen. He took the trash out in the dark, there was a lot of it, soon he came to the door and said, "gramma, can you come out on the porch while I take out the trash?" and I said, "why? are you afraid?" He replied, "only of the little things". I waited while he took out the lawn bags and then time to go to the train station! Poor guy, he lost his cell somewhere while he was here, don't know what he'll do without it!

Sophie Explores Old Town May 1, 2009

We decided to go to Old Town for breakfast. Sophie loves Mama Bear so in we went; Sophie had to walk around and explore then choose her seat. She had "bear pancakes" and yogurt. She thought the bear's ears were quite tasty.

After Mama Bear's we strolled down the street to a couple of shops. I decided to check out October Moon. What fun! Sophie looked at the animals, soap, candles, and t shirts. She was so cute; checked everything out but didn't fuss or ask for any item. A women at the counter making purchases of candles had a conversation with Sophie. She let Sophie smell all of the candles, she was quite impressed when Sophie knew all the colors. Between John and Andrea she learns colors, shapes, letters, numbers and music.

It was quite a coincidence; the woman Sophie was chatting with also had a little girl who was going to be two shortly. The woman had her little girl in a play group which I think is a great idea! Andy wanted to talk to some of her friends with toddlers and see how they might start a play group.
Cute; as we were leaving Sophie stopped to look at the door mat. The mat had a picture of the moon and said, "October Moon" in large letters. Sophie stopped, looked at the mat, pointed to the moon and said, "moon"; THEN she pointed to the word "moon" and said "moon". Not bad for twenty-two months old!

We then walked across the bridge and Sophie stopped at every circle on the railing and looked at the water. There was foam on the water and she saw different shapes at each peep hole. She was a busy girl.

Home for lunch and a nap...

We took Josh to scouts at Murphy School where they had a mother duck and baby ducks in their conservation area. Sophie was very impressed. She kept saying moma duck, baby ducks~ with a big smile on her face. When we got home we got one of her books that showed an egg hatching with a baby duck!

She is so much fun and so smart! I know John is enjoying watching her grow just as much as we are.

I just remembered. Sophie drew a purple "goose" which is outstanding and Andrea framed it.

Andrea called John to see if he would mind picking up Sophie at Perspectives 2 tomorrow. Its very close to his office so I don't think he'll mind. He said OK. Breeana is having a Birthday Party (surprise) and it's going to be at Perspectives.

Tomorrow will be very busy, after Bree's party I have another BDay party for Kevin, Jamaica's boyfriend. Besides Josh has more B'Scout duties Saturday am.

Wow, these kids are busy but so much fun. I'm so grateful to be their mom.

Sophie's Busy Day April 30, 2009

Sophie had a really busy day.

At 9:00am Daddy came to get Sophie for a fun day. At 3:00pm Sophie returned all smiles after her day with Daddy but glad to see "Nana".

It is cousin Peter's Birthday so we packed the car with a Trampoline, spin around and other misc. items then Sophie, Joshy, Andrea and I vied for space. By this time it was pouring rain and I drove, Joshy rode shotgun and Andrea sat behind the trampoline in the backseat. Sophie, of course, safely buckled in her car seat.

In Grand Rapids we got out of the car, transfered present and then went over to Erin's neighbor's house, Sara Melton, for a delicious meal of Lasagne (made by Erin), beutiful salad by Sara, and scrumptious fruit salad provided by Georgia. The piece de resistants, the Veggie Tales Cake, presented by Lorraina. About twelve for dinner and more for yum yum cake and ice cream!

Sophie loved every minute of the party. She played with the kids and toys and laughed and spun in circles. Peter opened his presents and it was then time to go. First I dressed Sophie in her P.J's and we headed for home.

Sophie was certainly ready for bed at 8:45 pm when we got home. She snuggled up and fell right to sleep.
